Video Codec Optimization Engineer

Job Title:

[Qualifications] 

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related. 

  • 3+ years of experience with Intel SIMD optimization, H264, H265 (HEVC) or VVC on visual studio framework. 

  • [Job Overview]: 

  • Sony is looking for a video codec engineer who has strong video codec knowledge on Intel SIMD Optimization and familiar with AVC or HEVC or VVC codecs. 

  • In this role, the candidate must optimize the video codec modules which are implemented in C/C++ using Intel SIMD intrinsics.  

  • Candidate should be able to work/propose on algorithmic changes for better performance or perform C-level optimization as well 

[Primary Skills]: 

  • Intel SIMD Optimization skills such as SSEx, AVX2, AVX512 

  • Good understanding of video codecs H264, H265 and Versatile video coding concepts 

  • Strong C, C++ programming skills 

  • Application development with Visual studio framework and unit testing 

  • Good logical & problem-solving abilities & communication skills 

[Good to have Skills]: 

  • Exposure to software development using GIT 

  • Knowledge & experience with the full SDLC  

  • Exposure to Linux environment is an advantage  

  • Knowledge on scripting (shell) and profiler tools like VTune Analyzer 

[Responsibilities and Duties]: 

  • Analyse target modules for optimization 

  • Optimize using Intel SIMD intrinsics and Perform unit & Integration testing 

  • Measure performance improvement using profiler tool 

  • Release package preparation
