Safety and Liability Manager

 

 

The Product Safety and Liability Manager is part of the Product Development organization and supports the organization to ensure that products fulfil regulatory requirements and standards. Ensures that safety-related aspects are covered. 

The role supports our organization with worldwide applicable product regulatory requirements/ standards. Handle, monitor, and inform about 3rd party tests (e.g., TÜV, KRIWAN, RI.SE and UL) and approvals. Provides plans, support and continuous training for all employees, projects and programs run within the Product Development Organization and Supply Chain Organization. 

The Product Safety and Liability Manager is responsible for assuring that the product fulfils what is stated in the product Declaration of Incorporation, Declaration of Conformity and/or Declaration of Performance. 

To keep up to date and to be able to influence you will participate in international and national standardization committees externally and our Standards & Codes Council internally.

Key responsibilities:

•        Keep organization up to date on requirements and standards applicable to our products to minimize organization's legal and financial risks.
•        Is responsible for supporting development of products to follow applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. 
•        Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards that impact our products.
•        Develop, implement, and improve regulations and safety processes. 
•        Create policies, procedures, and guidelines for how best follow applicable laws and regulations for our industry.
•        Provide training and education to employees to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements.
•        Support the organization to assess and mitigate safety and security related risks. 
•        Act as a point of contact for regulatory authorities and external auditors, coordinating audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries for BSP products.
•        Select notified bodies for certification of products.
•        Define which standards are needed and how to gain access to them.

Responsibilities and authorities

•        Create certification plans for product projects.
•        Assist in accident investigations, injury management, and monitor safety performance.
•        Active participant in development projects from an early stage until finalized test reports from notified body, DoC and DoI.
•        Highlight issues and problems, and support in finding solutions.
•        Balance project short term needs and department long term plan.
•        Constant research and analysis of government rules and regulations.
•        Working with continuous improvements of safety and regulation within the organization.
•        Be a member of a technical committee for standards where influence is beneficial.

 

Key competences: 
•        Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks. 
•        Solid technical knowledge and understanding of product/process design.
•        Experience with risk assessment from different machinery perspectives. 
•        Experience with machinery safety and the functional safety of machinery control systems.

Requirements: 

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar.
Languages: English.
Computer skills: High.
Other: Effective written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
Experience: 5+ years working with product safety, regulations, standards, and liability.
