About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Configuration Manager to play a key role in ensuring the integrity, traceability, and quality of software across complex development projects.

You will work in long-term and complex development programs where software is developed both internally and by external vendors and integrated into advanced distributed systems.

The role combines strategic responsibility with hands-on execution, focusing on building scalable Software Configuration Management (SCM) processes, supporting CI/CD, and ensuring compliance with internal and customer-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Software Configuration Management (SCM) strategies, processes, and tools.
• Manage baselines, version control, and change management for complex software systems.
• Support development teams with branching, merging, and release strategies.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, source code, builds, and delivered configurations.
• Conduct configuration audits and provide configuration status reporting.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Build & Release teams to optimize CI/CD workflows.
• Support the integration of vendor and third-party software from a configuration management perspective.
• Develop and maintain SCM documentation, guidelines, and best practices.
• Work closely with Systems Engineers, Software Developers, IT Architects, and project stakeholders.

Core Technical Skills — Must Have

• Proven experience in Software Configuration Management (SCM) or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Git and version control systems.
• Understanding of branching and merging strategies.
• Experience with build and release management.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of change management and configuration management.
• Experience with software baselines and configuration audits.
• Strong understanding of software traceability.
• Experience working with cross-functional technical teams.
• Strong documentation and process management skills.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience in large-scale or safety-critical development environments.
• Knowledge of configuration management standards and frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps methods and tools.
• Experience in system integration.
• Experience in product development organizations.
• Experience working with external software vendors and third-party software.

Requirements

• Relevant university/college education or equivalent experience in Software Development, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in Software Configuration Management or a similar position.
• Good understanding of Git, version control, and branching strategies.
• Experience with Build, Release, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, written and spoken.
• Structured, analytical, proactive, and detail-oriented approach.
• Comfortable taking ownership across multiple teams and technical areas.
